__________

The United States has the highest maternal mortality rate of wealthy nations while spending the highest percentage of its gross domestic product on health care. Within that bleak picture, the March of Dimes gives Missouri and Kansas D- and D+ grades, respectively, on a key mother and infant health statistic: pre-term births. Worse still, Black preterm births are 1.4 – 1.5 times higher in these states.

Much has been made of statistics like these, but very few conclusions have been made for unified responses. A common complaint is the availability and quality of data. This is a problem because without good data, there is no way to know what to target or determine if there is any impact from interventions. In this iteration of the Digital Health Innovation Forum, we will take on the issue of data:

  • What is meant by data being a problem in this field?
  • What kinds of implications does that have?
  • What is the challenge related to quality?
  • How much does data related to race, ethnicity, and language (REL) matter?
  • What is being done today to address the challenges?
  • What further could be done to move things forward?

Please join us as we seek to go beyond a call to action to action opportunities.
