CommunityKC

What is CommunityKC you ask?

It is a BRAND-NEW digital tool that publishes community projects happening throughout the city from community gardens to digital literacy projects to the adaptive reuse of neighborhood buildings and more!

The Community Capital Fund, Code for America brigade members, and Google Earth Outreach have built the groundwork for a digital app capable of displaying information for hundreds of projects, pinning their locations on a map, and filtering it by a variety of categories.  Now, all we need is to add the projects!

This will happen at the Third Annual Community Development Workshop being held Saturday, January 31, 2015.  With over 250 community leaders expected to attend, we need about 10 volunteers to help collect information on community projects submitted by Workshop attendees, facilitate a table discussion, and enter project information into the online mapping form. We will populate the map with project information in real time and will be displayed in a dynamic projection for participants to interact with during the event.

CommunityKC digital app aims to be the new source for discovering community projects and events throughout the metro area!  This collection of data will CONNECT resources, CREATE partnerships, and EMPOWER everyday citizens to participate in the great work happening throughout the city!

Volunteers are asked to attend the workshop from 9 AM-12 PM but are welcome to stay for the rest of the workshop ending at 3:30 PM.  We also ask that you attend one of our two trainings sessions listed below. If you would like to volunteer, please email communitykcinfo@gmail.com and indicate which training session you will be able to attend.
