In this month’s meeting, we have lined up a view of a newer remote service offering by a KC-based company, as well as an update on KC Digital Drive’s community health workers project.

In our first presentation, we will look at the virtual critical care service of ModRN Health. ModRN Health provides clinician-to-clinician support to a hospital’s care team. Of particular interest are rural critical access hospitals, but ModRN Health aims to fit anywhere clinical expertise in critical care is needed. Their credentialed physicians, nurses, and other vetted professionals provide virtual health support on-demand. The virtual link is through simple technology that does not require costly video monitoring setup or EMR integration. ModRN Health is a clinical partner to NETCCN, which is the national emergency tele-critical care network. They provide trusted virtual care teams to different areas in need across the country.

Our presenter will be Anna Hagenkord. She is the leader of the Virtual Critical Care Team at ModRN Health and is a Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) with experience in multiple ICU specialties.

Our second presentation will look at KC Digital Drive‘s work to establish a better comfort level with digital technology for community health workers and the clients they serve. Funded by a grant from the Health Forward Foundation, Digital Drive joined with the University of Missouri – Kansas City and the University of Missouri Extension to seek out a curriculum of digital inclusion content. We are in the final phase of the project. Come see what we have learned and what we will be proposing to the Foundation. We will also be interested in your feedback as we wrap things up.

John Fitzpatrick will be the presenter for this project. Normally, John is a volunteer with Digital Drive, with his day job being consulting in digital health strategy and also global business development. He have been involved in delivering services globally in a virtual context since the 1980s and specifically in health since 1991. This has involved engaging and advising community, regional, and national decision-makers, even multi-lateral organizations like the World Bank.

Please join us for another session of community building!

###
Every month, we bring together a group of health care stakeholders to learn and share about technology and innovation projects happening in the region–and occasionally related topics from outside the Greater Kansas City area. Our stakeholders include hospitals and the health care system, city and state government officials, health IT firms and other corporate partners, startups working in health and wellness, and other civic organizations. The meetings are open, though not widely broadcast. They generally happen on the last Wednesday of the month, 8:30-10:00 am at Mid-America Regional Council (MARC).
We send out an email agenda and calendar invite to this stakeholder list, which we loosely call the Health Innovation Team. If you wish to be added to the email list, please send a note to jfitzpatrick@kcdigitaldrive.org.
