We have been able to continue to highlight local innovations, and we will continue this month with two presentations.
In our first, we will hear about Trially, a clinical trials tech startup co-founded by Kyle McAllister, Trevor Welch, and Ramon Prieto, focused on transforming the $22.6 billion clinical trial industry through the use of advanced AI technology. The company’s platform aims to streamline patient recruitment and to augment and automate other trial start up processes like feasibility and business development. By integrating with electronic health records (EHR) systems, Trially helps drive clinical data into their trial partners’ workflows with the goal of increasing revenue and efficiencies to their site customers while speeding up the research process for the end sponsor.
Our presenter, Kyle McAllister, is the CEO and co-founder of Trially. He’s spent his career in health tech working for Epic and Cerner and as a data consultant to large health systems like Ochsner, University of Texas, UVA, and Banner. He transitioned into the trials space several years ago as the VP of Data for a clinical trials site network called CCT Research which is where he learned about the problems Trially is being built to solve.
In our second presentation we will learn about PedsMarket, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Children’s Mercy Kansas City established by its Center for Pediatric Innovation with the sole focus of advancing pediatric innovation. PedsMrkt is a community and ecommerce platform that connects pediatric medical professionals and organizations who are committed to advancing innovation to improve the health and wellbeing of children.
Krista Nelson, Director of Innovation Development, will present and lead the discussion. In her role, Krista leads the development and execution of the Children’s Mercy Innovation Strategy and serves as the leader for innovation throughout the organization. She partners with champions of innovative ideas and key hospital strategies and leads them through an innovation/strategic framework to bring their ideas to life.
Krista spent nearly four years at Hallmark Cards, Inc. in Kansas City as an Innovation Leader. Prior to this, Krista spent 20 years developing new products, services and software solutions in the financial industry. Overall, her career has focused on delivering solutions that bring value and meet consumer needs.
Krista is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a BS in Business Administration

Every month, we bring together a group of health care stakeholders to learn and share about technology and innovation projects happening in the region–and occasionally related topics from outside the Greater Kansas City area. Our stakeholders include hospitals and the health care system, city and state government officials, health IT firms and other corporate partners, startups working in health and wellness, and other civic organizations. The meetings are open, though not widely broadcast. They generally happen on the last Wednesday of the month, 8:30-10:00 am.
We send out an email agenda and calendar invite to this stakeholder list, which we loosely call the Health Innovation Team. If you wish to be added to the email list, please send a note to jfitzpatrick@kcdigitaldrive.org.
