For our first meeting, we again will be online and hearing from two innovators from the Kansas City area.
First, we’ll learn about Stroke Sisters, a very early-stage digital health platform to transform stroke recovery by connecting female survivors under 65to a global community of peers and a curated library of trusted resources. Stroke Sisters empowers women on their recovery journeys through a blend of support and tools, including moderated community discussions, instructional videos, coaching courses, recovery trackers, motivational tools, live events, and expert insights—all tailored to the unique needs of younger female stroke survivors.
This initiative is deeply rooted in the lived experience of its founder, Angie Read. At 46, Angie was thriving in her career as a public relations professional and enjoying life with her family when an ischemic stroke changed everything. Her recovery—both physical and mental—was a long and challenging process. Drawing from her own journey of resilience, Angie is now dedicated to helping other women navigate the unique challenges of stroke recovery.
She is the author of four books on post-stroke recovery, as well as a book about marketing to Gen Z. Angie is here today to share her vision for Stroke Sisters and is eager to gather feedback and insights from the Health Innovation Team to help propel this meaningful project forward.
In our second presentation, we will look at EZBizPortal. EZBizPortal is a comprehensive Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) designed for managing the entire lifecycle of medical devices. It offers electronically transferable repair and preventive maintenance records, ensuring seamless documentation and compliance. Marketed as the “Carfax” for medical equipment, it simplifies operations for biomedical companies by integrating various management functions into one platform. EZBizPortal’s expanding marketplace, already used by over 350 medical facilities, allows hospitals to place repair orders with their existing vendors without leaving the portal.
Presenting will be CEO Jonathan Gregory. Jonathan has been an Intel engineer where he crafted a platform that slashed $100M from yearly manufacturing equipment downtime. This was dual achievement because it revolutionized operations within Intel to set a new standard in healthcare technology. He also has held positions at Adepto Medical, Geek Squad, Perceptive Software, UnboundID, The University of Kansas Health System, and The University of Kansas Medical Center.
Remember that you can refer to previous meetings here. There are videos for most of the sessions since we started hosting virtually. Last month’s great presentations from Dr. Kim Templeton and Mariah Chrans are posted there.
###
Every month, we bring together a group of health care stakeholders to learn and share about technology and innovation projects happening in the region–and occasionally related topics from outside the Greater Kansas City area. Our stakeholders include hospitals and the health care system, city and state government officials, health IT firms and other corporate partners, startups working in health and wellness, and other civic organizations. The meetings are open, though not widely broadcast. They generally happen on the last Wednesday of the month, 8:30-10:00 am.
We send out an email agenda and calendar invite to this stakeholder list, which we loosely call the Health Innovation Team. If you wish to be added to the email list, please send a note to jfitzpatrick@kcdigitaldrive.org.
