The Kansas City Coalition for Digital Inclusion (KCCDI) is an open, collaborative group of organizations who foster digital equity and access to technology for Kansas City metro communities. KCCDI meets monthly on the first Friday of every month to hear about the work of local digital inclusion practitioners, and share information about upcoming opportunities in the digital inclusion space.
FEATURED CONTENT
This month’s meeting with feature a conversation about efforts to expand broadband infrastructure and access in Miami County and southern Johnson County. The meeting will begin with local leaders from Miami County and Spring Hill discussing their communities’ broadband journey, how they have engaged with providers, and their current status and plans for broadband expansion. This discussion will feature Joe Berkey, Mayor of the City of Spring Hill, KS, and Janet McRae, Economic Development Director of Miami County, KS.
After this, a panel of internet service providers will discuss their work in Miami and Johnson counties, how they have engaged with the community, and what their status and plans are regarding current and upcoming broadband grant programs. This panel will feature:
- John Terry, Director of Customer Experience, KwiKom
- David Soffer, Director of Business Development, WANRack
- Karly Baraga-Werner, Senior Director of Government & Regulatory Affairs, Comcast
- Chase Custer, VP & Director of Finance, MoKan Communications
Finally, Morgan Barnes from the Kansas Office of Broadband Development will speak on how the experience of Spring Hill and Miami County provides lessons for other communities.
